Seidio Holster for Treo 750

One of the features of the new Treo 750 that rules is the way it feels in your hand with those groovy channels along the side for a better grip and that velvety texture of the rubberized surface. It seems a shame to cover it up with a case.

If you feel the same way, then the Seidio holster is for you.

The holster is made of the same rubberized material as the Treo 750 so that the two blend nicely and appear to be one unit when conjoined.

Your Smart Device seats snugly into the bottom of the holster and snaps into the spring-loaded catch at the top for a secure fit with no wiggle room. A black felt coating on the inside of the holster protects the Treo screen from scratching.

I loathed that ugly antenna sticking up like a wart on a witch’s nose on the earlier Treos and heartily applaud the new sleek look of the 750 sans antenna. But, I did find that pesky protrusion handy for retrieving it from a case. It also served as a good direction finder for orienting the machine in the dark. So, in a way, I sort of miss it, but I don’t miss its looks.

With the holster, you always know the top of the machine when you unleash it from the clip at the top. While it is easy to release the unit from the clasp with an upward flick of the forefinger and a push out with your thumb, there is no way that the unit will fall out of the tight grasp under normal circumstances.

However, I give you a word of caution based on experience. With the holster securely dangling from my belt, I brushed against the wall as I turned the corner to go downstairs to my office. The pressure was just enough to release the clasp. The PDA went flying and hit the ground separating into three parts: battery, battery cover, and the unit itself. Luckily the stairs are carpeted, and there were no injuries. Just be careful not to brush up against anything when you’re packing your PDA in this holster. OK, partner?

There are two kinds of holster fans: the verticals and the horizontals. Well, this flexible unit will satisfy both camps because the secure belt clip swivels to accommodate everyone locking into seven different positions.

It amused me to read the description of this device in the TreoCentral store because it boasts of the top spring clip insuring against the SD card popping out. Hmm… The 750 doesn’t have an SD card. It has a miniSD card slot behind a difficult to open trap door on the right side of the unit. It made me wonder if this holster were really designed specifically for the 750 or for the 700 series.

So, I popped my 700WX into the holster, and if anything it fit even better than the 750. Note that the 700s are a bit thicker than the 750s. So, I guess the good news is that this holster will serve to pack any ol’ Treo.

Conclusion

If you enjoy the look and feel of the sleek new 750, and you do not want to cover it up with a case, but you want to protect it, a...
