Styra: The Secret Agent's Stylus Replacement

Styra: The secret agent's stylus replacement.

I have a terrible habit of losing the stylus on my "everyday use" devices. Although I'm very responsible with test devices that we review for our magazine, it's inevitable that I will misplace the stylus that goes with whatever device I regularly carry. For example, with my T-mobile MDA (which ships with two styluses), I’ve already lost the both OEM styluses. For the past few weeks I’ve been carrying a full-sized replacement . However, it isn’t always convenient to use a full-sized stylus and it pains me to look at the empty stylus silo on the side of the device. So this week, I found a killer replacement for the original stylus.

Boxwave Corporation makes a three-in-one product called the Styra. This stylus is designed to fit in the silo on your device, effectively replacing the original stylus that came with your unit. The stylus works normally, and has all the functionality of the stylus you used to carry. For example, with my MDA, the stylus “telescopes” (extends) when I pull it out of the silo and retracts when I push it back into the device.

However, the Styra also has some additional the features that make it suitable to be carried by a secret agent. When you unscrew the plastic tip of the stylus, there’s a tool to reset your device (helpful for devices where the stylus doesn’t fit into the soft reset hole). Unscrew the other side of the stylus and you’ll find a ballpoint pen. One final touch is that the Styra tips are "tuxedo black" molded plastic, which looks much better than the ugly grey color that originally came with my MDA and helps to boost my secret agent persona.

The Styra is available for a vast number of Windows Mobile devices and costs approximately $11.95 (prices vary depending on your device). You can learn more by visiti...
